Philip Burton recognized as UIC Distinguished Professor
On Thursday, April 8, Philip Burton was recognized as UIC Distinguished Professor at the online Faculty Awards Ceremony. This University honor acknowledges persons who have made a significant impact upon their field through scholarship, creativity and leadership.
Philip Burton began teaching in 1975 at the University of Houston. Subsequent teaching positions include Rice University, Kent State, Yale Summer Design Program in Brissago, Switzerland. He was recruited in 1981 to teach at Yale University, and came to UIC in 1989. Professor Burton is now recognized as an established national and international leader in design education, much of the success of UIC Design is traced to his wide-reaching connections, thoughtful influence, and subtle leadership.
