Rebecca Gimenez :: Graphic Design Lecture Series
Rebecca Gimenez helps people and organizations learn to design. Currently Design Director at IA Collaborative, a Chicago-based design innovation consultancy, Gimenez served as the Design Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art from 2008 to 2012. Gimenez worked with the Whitney to establish its design competency and to find its visual identity. The new look commissioned by the Dutch design firm Experimental Jetset, expresses the museum's exuberant and playful identity as well as its rule-based and careful working methods.
Gimenez is additionally a founding member of the design collective We Have Photoshop, and was a partner in W/--- Project Space, located in New York's Lower East Side, from 2008–2011. She has served as a visiting critic at Parsons the New School for Design, Tisch ITP, the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, and Yale University School of Art. Her work has been recognized by AIGA, the AAUP and the Type Director's Club. She holds a BA in Literature from the University of Wisconsin—Madison and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University.
